Na abordagem de 2015, a entrevista com neto do Tolkien foi só um jabá pra divulgar o livro dele, que nunca ouvi falar, mas deve ser bom... romance de tribunal, acho que nunca vi ou li esse tipo e a única vez que tocou em Senhor dos Anéis foi pra dizer que leu em voz alta pro filho e que a indiada levou um ano.

Respiro, leio sobre a tal ajuda que ele deu a série como consultor, e não tem nada. Só diz que ajudou na escrita do vô e na em alguns arcou, não disse quais, e que os showrunners querem ir além de uma versão mais xóvem da trilogia.

Não adianta, talento não é genético. Se alguém leu o livro do Simon, poderia contribuir com alguma impressão e se ele absorveu alguma coisa do avô.

O professor Shippey tb foi consultor do Peter Jackson nos filmes do SdA ( e do Hobbit tb, embora sem ser creditado?) mas eu acho que dificilmente vc vai achar algo ou alguém dizendo EXATAMENTE quais foram exemplos da contribuição dele pros erros e acertos de ambas as trilogias mesmo hoje em dia, em alguns casos, décadas depois do fato.

Se tiver algo em algum lugar com esse grau de especificidade deve ser aí

Em todo caso, a função do Simon Tolkien pode não ser como um consultor "expert" de aspectos do Legendarium mas como uma espécie de "porta-voz" do Tolkien Estate dentro da produção. Ele pode ser o responsável por intermediar o staff da produção com a diretoria do Estate que, atualmente inclui ele mesmo:

Nessa função, os talentos literários dele podem ter muito pouco a ver, embora seja, talvez, interessante comentar que o marketing e organização narrativa do Anéis de Poder está muito mais estruturado como um filme de "suspense" do que um de "fantasia". E eles estão com uma preocupação grande "em não revelar muito cedo demais" como ele falou em relação ao trabalho dele em 2015.

Agora Isildur é um moleque estúpido que tem uma irmã (inventada), madura e racional que faz o papel de mãe para contrastar com ele. Nossa que surpresa esse tipo de narrativa. Agora a história de Tolkien foi reescrita para que todos os heróis na verdade sejam incompetentes dependentes da racionalidade das figuras femininas. Que deprimente. Como se fosse qualquer tipo de evolução ou fato pra ser comemorado a mulher ter que assumir o papel de homens imaturos na modernidade. Realmente, mudando a história pra refletir a vida real. Já não basta.

Minha previsão atual como alguém que tem acompanhado bem casualmente e de longe as notícias sobre a série:

Fanfic esteticamente bem agradável, mas sem conteúdo. Provavelmente assistirei uma versão pirata (para não bancar a Amazon) a título de curiosidade, ridicularizá-la-ei, depois esquecerei que assisti e seguirei adiante como se nada acontecera. Talvez fique mais ativo cá na Valinor, por um tempo, recepcionando os novatos que virão achando que Tar-Míriël/Ar-Zimraphêl mandava em alguma coisa e que gente caía do céu; e em pouco tempo essa série será como as velhas animações soviéticas de que ninguém mais se lembra senão como atração de museu, enquanto mesmo os filmes de Peter Jackson, arcaicos como são, serão melhor respeitados.

No ínterim a bolha do Twitter irá à loucura, é claro. Mas são uma comunidade muito insignificante comparado ao que pensam ser.

Watching the showrunners interview at Comic Con and it’s honestly infuriating how many people on Reddit and elsewhere have thrown the accusations around that nobody on the show cares about the lore or the story. These guys are the real deal, they love Middle-Earth.
